"The power of position does not exist to provide the office holder with profit, it exists to guarantee the freedom of the people." RJ Harris
The Progressives of the early 1900s understood that alcohol prohibition required an amendment to make it illegal. Despite achieving the required amendment, it was such an utter failure that prohibition was the only amendment ever repealed. Yet today many conservatives champion prohibition on other drugs (alcohol is a drug) WITH NO Constitutional Amendment in place to support this new prohibition. I thought real Conservatives wanted smaller, less intrusive Constitutionally Conservative government which respects the People’s Liberty to make their own choices which includes bad ones. The drug war has literally cost us trillions of dollars and ruined millions of lives for little or no change of people’s behaviors to not use drugs. Drug addiction is a medial issue and should not be treated then as a law enforcement issue. This unconstitutional war has failed and thus, I agree with the Reverend Pat Robertson, and the Liberty Activist Penn Jillette, who both say we should end the war on drugs.
