As Governor, I will end the unconstitutional War on Drugs at the Oklahoma border. I will do everything in my power to pardon citizens guilty of nothing more than non-violent possession or distribution of ingestible substances. Moreover, I will engage in a vigorous campaign to make all potential Oklahoma jurists aware that they can use their power of jury nullification to strike down bad law as is the duty of every juror according to many of our Founding Fathers. I will also engage the federal drug war enforcement authorities on every legal field to prevent them from continuing the tyranny they began without a scintilla of constitutional authority. During the age of alcohol prohibition, the do-gooders of that era had at least enough respect for the Constitution to realize that an amendment was required to affect their property and liberty infringing ideals. Yet in the present age of drug prohibition, where is the amendment allowing the federal government to confiscate our property and imprison our citizens for choosing Marijuana over Alcohol? When I am Governor the days of locking up single mothers, college students, and our otherwise law-abiding neighbors for nothing more than using drugs without a prescription, will finally come to an end in our state.
