NORMAN, OKLAHOMA – April 12, 2012 – RJ Harris will file to run as an Independent candidate against Congressman Tom Cole tomorrow morning at 10:30 AM at the state capitol. RJ Harris, the 2010 OK Tea Party endorsed candidate for Oklahoma’s 4th Congressional District announced late yesterday that he was withdrawing from the Presidential race and also announced his candidacy for another challenge for Oklahoma’s 4th U.S. Congressional District. Said RJ on his official Facebook page and website:
“With regret I must report that my campaign has not raised the funds necessary to wage a national campaign for president any longer. Initially it was my belief that we needed a back up candidate to Ron Paul in case he did not win the GOP nomination. However, with Gov. Johnson joining the LP nomination this mission will have to fall to either him or Mr. Lee Wrights now and I wish them both the very best. With Ron Paul leaving the Congress we MUST provide someone to carry on his message there THIS cycle. All along many of you have asked me to run for Congress in 2012 with exactly that concern in mind. So now with the April 13th filing deadline looming this Friday, I am happy to report that I will run, once again, for Oklahoma’s 4th District Congressional Seat.”
As a first time candidate for public office in 2010 Mr. Harris won 23% in the Republican Primary along with the endorsements of some of the biggest personalities in the liberty movement including Senator Rand Paul, Ms. Debra Medina, Mr. John Dennis, the Republican Liberty Caucus and the Oklahoma Conservative PAC.
The RJ Harris 2012 Congressional Campaign is also pleased to announce that with just over 24 hours to organize and raise funds it has been able to collect those needed to pay for the filing fees which will be turned in by RJ in person at the Oklahoma State Capital tomorrow at 1030 A.M.
